Music Therapy is the foundation of our practice
All services are personalized for the individual, group, or organization receiving them. I am happy to speak with you about how I can personalize these services for you, your loved one, or your organization.
Individual Sessions

The client and the therapist work together as a team throughout individual sessions to determine the course of the treatment plan and the best interventions to accomplish that treatment plan.

The plan may change from day to day depending on the client's needs and emotional state. I am trained to assess those needs in each session and make changes throughout the therapeutic process as necessary.

Interventions can include song writing, singing, instrument playing, lyric analysis, relaxation to music, and may include Guided Imagery and Music,  Mandalas and MARI, or other heART expression interventions as needed.

Group Sessions

Group session are organized by commonalities between its members, such as goals, age, history, gender, etc. Groups allow for the members to support each other through their therapeutic development.

The experiences presented vary depending on the goals of the people involved. Examples of groups include, but are not limited to:

  • Social Interaction

  • Stress Reduction

  • Positive Communication

Interventions can include instrumental improvisations, song writing, vocal improvisations, music listening, and lyric analysis.

Collaborative Sessions

Collaborative Sessions (also referred to as co-treatment sessions) allow the music therapist and other clinical professional to work together to help one client achieve their goals. I have worked with physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified nursing assistants, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and psychologists.

Collaborative Sessions can be provided with music therapy as the primary modality or as a supportive treatment modality.

Consultation Services

Consultations are provided to any individual, group, or organization that wishes to receive training on how to incorporate music into their everyday activities. Consultations can include:

  • Special Education teachers wishing to use music with their classes

  • Classroom teachers utilizing inclusion techniques for special education students

  • Corporate offices wishing to improve productivity and team cohesion

  • Parents wishing to utilize music in their everyday interactions with their children

Consultations may provide printed documentation, experiential techniques, or recorded music recommendations. Occasionally, a consultation may result in the therapist providing an in-service to additional staff/employees.

Eligibility Assessments

Eligibility Assessments are utilized to determine if an individual would benefit from inclusion in ongoing music therapy treatment. Most eligibility assessments are provided by request of a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), but can be provided to any individual at any time.

Eligibility Assessments provided at the request of a student's IEP team follow a very specific format outlined in the Special Education Music Therapy Assessment Profile to determine if the student is eligible for services under the guidelines of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It is important to remember that the IDEA guidelines are extremely specific and a child that benefits from Music Therapy may not be eligible under IDEA.
